Teresa Silliman, ND, received her doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine, with academic honors, from National College of Naturopathic Medicine. Prior to that, she obtained her bachelor’s degree from Stanford University. In the interim, Dr. Silliman worked in a laboratory at Oregon Health Sciences University, where she was involved in research on adrenal gland function. During this time, she was awarded a fellowship from the American Heart Association which led to a publication of her work in the American Journal of Physiology. Always an avid student, while at NCNM Dr. Silliman took one year and dedicated herself full time to learning from the elders and experts in naturopathic medicine around the country. The lessons and relationships forged during those years continue to impact her study of naturopathic medicine and her patient care. Dr. Silliman specializes in the areas she enjoyed researching – the dynamic interaction of emotions, stress, digestion and hormones – and how imbalances between these systems underlie most conditions. She employs diet, exercise, botanical medicine, nutritional supplements and homeopathy to correct imbalances.
